In a valuable step towards progress and economic diversification, May 2023 marked the birth of the first group of cut flower growers in the picturesque town of Pichiguao. This exciting initiative sprouted from a request submitted by the Pichiguao neighborhood council to ANASAC, driven by the vision of discovering new talent in the field of agriculture and forging an innovative market niche that would contribute to local economic growth and strengthening.
The heart of the project beats in a 100 m² demonstration greenhouse, carefully designed and adapted for the cultivation of cut flowers. Among the varieties blooming in this oasis of beauty are the elegant Lilium, the radiant Gerbera, the charming Limonium and the always cheerful Sunflowers. These flowers not only arouse the admiration of visitors, but also represent a potential income generator for the community.
One of the fundamental pillars that sustain this project is the constant support and advice of a professional expert in the field of cut flowers. Her tireless dedication is reflected in the continuous training she provides to participants, enabling them to apply and perfect the knowledge they have acquired. This dynamic, hands-on learning process ensures that Pichiguao's flower growers are equipped with the necessary skills to cultivate and care for these beautiful flowers with mastery.
As the petals unfurl and the flowers come to life in the Pichiguao greenhouse, the cut flower project stands as an inspiring testament to the collaboration between community and nature. With vision, passion and a desire to cultivate both land and opportunity, this initiative promises to weave a tapestry of beauty and prosperity that will benefit the town of Pichiguao for years to come.
