METSUL® is a selective herbicide for rice crops used pre- and post-emergence for the control of broadleaf weeds in rice crops. It is most effective on small, actively growing weeds. METSUL® 50 WP inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), a precursor of the branched-chain aliphatic amino acids valine, leucine, and isoleucine. Weeds become discolored or reddened 1 to 3 weeks after application. High temperature and humidity conditions following treatment favor its action.
